To give a voice to LGBTQI+ seniors

Forbidden Colours supports “Rainbow Ambassadors asbl” whose aim is to give, at a national level, a voice to LGBTQI+ seniors, too often forgotten in debates and actions. They grew up at a time when homosexuality was still a taboo, too often described as a mental illness or not accepted on religious or cultural grounds. Discrimination, exclusion and rejection were part of their daily lives.

This national association is made up of committed volunteers who have been involved for years in improving support for LGBTQI+ elderly people in the care sector (professional and/or informal). Information sessions for students and also seniors are regularly organised.

Since 2019, these ambassadors also want to create a website as soon as possible, a great initiative financed by the Forbidden Colours Fund. This site will be equipped with webinars to illustrate their actions and projects, give a face to the senior group and make society aware of their existence.
