President Von Der Leyen Invited To Budapest Pride

It could be an important message by the European Commission

Budapest Pride & the Brussels-based NGO Forbidden Colours invited the President of the European Commission Ursula Von Der Leyen and Commissioner for Equality Helena Dalli to participate in the Budapest Pride March on July 24th, 2021.

Viktoria Radvanyi, organizer Budapest Pride: “It would be an honour to welcome President Von Der Leyen and Commissioner Dalli to our Budapest Pride March. By participating in Budapest Pride, the European Commission would send a strong signal towards all discriminated minorities in Europe. LGBTIQ-Hungarians see the European Union as one of their last resorts for a life in freedom and without discrimination.”

Rémy Bonny, executive director Forbidden Colours: “The infringement procedure against Hungary’s anti-LGBTIQ propaganda law is an important first step. LGBTIQ-rights are human rights, and human rights are European values. I invite the European Commission to join us in support of the LGBTIQ-community in the member states. Only by talking and visiting the people on the ground, we understand what LGBTIQ-people across the Union expect from those in Brussels.”
